At present, various parks undergoing construction are expected to enhance Dubai’s outdoor leisure scene in the next two years. The Palms Park is one of the least known. This palm-shaped park is dedicated to the emblem of local tree in the United Arab Emirates. Palms Park, situated in Al Aweer, has 10.8 hectare area comprising over 1,400 palm trees. In 'Date Souq', the crops of 300 diverse types of dates will be on sale, and the palm waste will be utilized in creating handicrafts associated with the regional heritage.
The park is anticipated to be completed at a cost of Dh21.3 million in 2016. The Dubai Centre for Wetlands is another celebration of nature and this project still in the design stage. The Ras al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary will be upgraded to develop into a state-of-the art facility. For birdwatchers, the sanctuary is one of the few spots where they can enjoy the feeling of being far away from the city buzz, while not actually being far away from Downtown Dubai. The mangroves of Ras al Khor are the gathering place for both migratory and indigenous birds.
The latest centre will consist of a museum as well as a visitor's centre and will be designed in the shape of a shell. The Holy Quran has the mention of 54 species, of which 35 will be displayed inside the park, while the remaining 20 species will be showcased outside and 15 will be produced in greenhouses. Although there is a bit of a wait, next year will assure the launch of two other attractive parks: Dubai Crocodile Park and Dubai Safari. Dubai Safari is the long expected substitution of Dubai Zoo, to be built opposite Dragon Mart. The 119 hectare plot will offer a home to over 1,000 animals and the venture is said to offer high-end facilities to the animals and the visitor as well. Crocodile Park will be a special home only for this reptile species. Besides hosting a number of species of crocodile, it will also inspire research and education on the territory.
