An event aimed at encouraging and supporting budding entrepreneurs around the world.
The Startup Weekend event is a grassroots movement that has its base settled in Seattle but has involved itself in startup ventures around the world, assisting groups of people in bringing their business ideas to life through advice and experience in the field of entrepreneurship. As a non-profit organisation, Startup Weekend follows a simple model which includes participants pitching in ideas and getting feedback from their peers with teams forming over the more popular ideas.
Once the best ideas and teams have been chosen and formed, the participants go into a 54 hour time period during which they have to come up with a business model, coding scripts, desig and market validation. After the allotted time has passed, the participants are asked to bring their ideas to a number of local entrepreneurial leaders who will give them a last line of critical feedback. During the event, members may build businesses, find suitable co-workers for their ideas or even just learn a great deal from watching others at work, as there is something for everyone at this event.
